Been to the BMW dealer today for an Oil Service on my 318iS. The overall price was not bad but I did notice that every customer was told of problems that the mechanic had spotted while servicing their car - no one just paid and left, they tried to get extra work out of every customer. This included me, when it came my turn to pay they informed me of the work and the cost of each job and asked if I wanted to get the work done there and then. I declined reasoning that I could do the jobs myself and that it would be cheaper to do so (Although I may no be correct about the work required on the brakes - the BMW garage price was very good). One of my items referred to a side light not working. When I declined this work I was informed that driving with this defect is a offence under the road traffic act. Well that may be true but what should be an offence is charging £14.67 to change a light bulb.
